We all scream for ice cream - Ribeirão Preto

Not quite as famous to tourists as Pinguim (yesterday's post) is the Sorveteria do Geraldo (Gerald's Ice Cream store). It's a street corner joint with plastic tables and stools up and down the street, and the best ice cream in the land. In fact, Brazil has wonderful homemade ice creams that really should be more famous than the caipirinhas, the beaches or the football (waiting for my husband's eye roll). Just milk, sugar and fresh fruits...or popcorn flavor? Green corn flavor? Or in season right now: jabuticaba, a sweet Brazilian grape-type fruit. All served by a happy gang of Brazilians in white hats. Ice cream like it should be!

  1. I have never found such delicious ice-cream as I find here in Brazil. The different flavors seems to never end. These past weeks, despite some of the cold weather we have had, I have been trying my hand at homemade ice-cream. My Picolé de Abacate turned out amazing and I am excited to see how my Picolé de Milho Verde will turn out once it has finished freezing! A blog post about my Brazilian ice-cream adventures will be coming soon.

    2. Taste-testers are always welcome as I cannot possibly eat all of the yummy food that I make.
