We all scream for ice cream - Ribeirão Preto

Not quite as famous to tourists as Pinguim (yesterday's post) is the Sorveteria do Geraldo (Gerald's Ice Cream store). It's a street corner joint with plastic tables and stools up and down the street, and the best ice cream in the land. In fact, Brazil has wonderful homemade ice creams that really should be more famous than the caipirinhas, the beaches or the football (waiting for my husband's eye roll). Just milk, sugar and fresh fruits...or popcorn flavor? Green corn flavor? Or in season right now: jabuticaba, a sweet Brazilian grape-type fruit. All served by a happy gang of Brazilians in white hats. Ice cream like it should be!

I need to see ID with that milkshake - Ribeirão Preto

Wine Milkshake

Here's a specialty of the ice cream shop in Ribeirão Preto, a city of around 750,000 people three hours into the interior of the São Paulo farming area. The Central Valley of Brazil. Yum yum.
